Looking through some of my photos from last year I recall a few of the extra special rings I finished. One of those projects was this Light Blue Montana Sapphire Half Bezel Engagement Ring handmade in 18k yellow gold. It was purchased by Henry for his now fiance Sara. It features a precision cut light Blue Montana sapphire set in a semi-bezel yellow gold mounting. I love working with precision cut gems stones. They are such a delight to set and their perfect facet design brings out the best color and sparkle in a stone. The rich 18k yellow gold is a beautiful contrast to the light blue sapphire color.
The ring was carved out of wax, cast by me in 18k royal yellow gold and hand finished. The gem was cut by Dr. Gray Weaver from his material into a custom mixed cut round brilliant facet design. It's a beautiful and very lively unique gemstone with a light blue color.
The genuine 1.42ct/6.42mm Montana sapphire was hand set and the ring has a mirror polished finish. The band width is 3mm. Height above the finger about 6 mm (1/4").
