I am so excited about my new upcoming web site design I have been working on for the last week. Almost a year after I completely rebuilt my web site using Shopify's e-commerce platform, it's time for some improvements. The new web design is fully responsive for different screen resolutions and will work better on mobile devices like smart phones. Thanks to Shopify's great selection of beautiful designed templates it wasn't hard to find a perfect match. The preview function to test a template on ones web site was a huge help in seeing each one in action and how if worked with the content already on my site.
I knew what I wanted:
- minimal and clean design
- wide screen slide show on the front page
- easy to read product pages that work with all the variation options I offer
- nice product grid layout on collection pages
- social media integration
I got it it down to a short list of 4 templates and after checking again and again the winner was the Blockshop template. All I have to do now is tweak the colors and fonts to my liking, select and retake photos for the front page slide show and promotion widgets, rework the navigation in the headers and sub menus & get some of the custom apps to work with it. The beauty of using these templates is that it does not affect any content already created on my site, no need to edit hundreds of product listings. That would be a huge undertaking. Luckily everything will automatically update to the new design once I publish it. It will take me a couple more days to get everything set up just perfect and I hope I will launch it end on next week.
